Why did I join Mediative?

Following up on last week’s post, “What is Mediative?” many have been surprised by my move and have openly asked about my reasons. Last week I explained at length what this new beast is all about, this will I’ll explain why I joinded:

  • Search services (SEO, SEM, UX)
  • Monetization services (retail
  • Social media PR & monitoring
  • Lead generation
  • Mobile strategy
  • Analytics & performance marketing management
  • Location based solutions in Print, Internet and Mobile
  • Display ad network online including video, mobile and newsletter
  • Intent to buy targeting, along with behavioral, audience and retargeting capabilities
  • Digital out of home network

But why did I make the move?

What Mediative is is the main reason I joined Mediative – to be able to offer any type of media solution across a multitude of channels, types of websites (content, service and retail), platforms (web, mobile, print and out of home) as well as every conceivable type of targeting.

The other reason is the staff that was already there. For the most part, people I’ve known for the past 12 years or more. People I consider my peers and superiors in interactive know-how. People I felt could teach me a great deal. Here are a few of them: Patrick Lauzon (President) who put together the very first IAB Canada conference “Interactive to the Max” which later became “MIXX Canada” – he’s worked at Sympatico and Quebecor Media both times restructuring massively existing teams into powerhouses. Jean-Philippe Gauthier (Chief Operations Officer) whom I’ve known for a good many years from Sympatico to Gesca and then directly as my supplier at Stream The World when I was at Corus Quebec – one of the most trustworthy and good natured persons I know. Louis-Jacques Darveau (VP Marketing – now moved on) whom I’d dealth with at Sympatico many years back is an extreemely competent individual. Mohamed Kahlain (VP Performance Products & Marketing) I’ve known by reputation from his time at Desjardins where I remember him presenting a case study to an IAB event I organised, on to Canoe and now a good friend an colleague. Amy L’Amoreaux (National Director of Campaign  Mangement) I’d known again by reputation from her time at Sympatico and Canoe. Emmanuel Begouen (SEM Specialist – now moved back to Acquisio) I’ve know since he started at NetWorldMedia – a strong search specialist.

There’s also Nicolas Gaudreau at Yellow Pages Group responsible for the directory (online, print and mobile) who was my client when I was still at Cossette in 1999 (we launched MontrealPlus.ca togeter) and with whom I taught a course at the University of Montreal in 2004. Matthieu Houle who’s one of the foremost mobile experts in Montreal and Martin Aubut (formerly Canoe) is a terrific website strategist.

I’ve now become close friend or colleage with a great many more strong and competent people here at Media and within Yellow Pages Groups, in Montreal, Toronto and Kelowna. To that end, I’ve built a Twitter list of everyone that works at Mediative as well as some people working at Yellow Pages Group and some of our owned websites to follow what they have to say and share.

Here is my Twitter list for Mediative which includes the YP owned brands, key Yellow Pages employees on Twitter and my fellow Mediative co-workers.
