Time required to manage social media presence?
I saw an estimate of 32 hours per month per social media site for the time required to manage your presence. I realize this is a bit like asking how long is a piece of string, but does that seem realistic?

As you see from the other answers, “it depends” sounds like the right answer.
– depends on how involved you are,
– depends on how many tools / networks you participate in
– depends what returns you expect from it
– depends if you only do it for work, personal, both, or more…
I spend some time on it for my day-job (Corus) Facebook, Twitter, Technoratti and other such tools, maybe 2-3 hrs a week (12h/m)
I spend more time for my associaltion (IAB Canada) on LinkedIn, SlideShare and Twitter, maybe half hour per day (16h/m)
and I spend time for myself professionnally mostly as a consultant mixed with IAB and Corus through all of the above and more, maybe another half hour per day.
So in all, I probably spend 45hrs a month on social media predominantly professionally.
